Fucking hell. France, Forestry. Middle of
fuckin’ nowhere!
I’m moving to France, with any luck, to the middle of nowhere in central French land to build, farm and keep the trees in order (In case they think of breaking the law).
It’ll be a hard journey as the bike is joining me.
I am looking forward to it all except two things -
No chance that ANYONE will like country music.
No Western Gold Liquor.
The country music thing ain’t all that different from here.
The drink problem… I may have to order massive amounts until I get to Germany next year.
The whole reason?
It’s not about the job, it’s not about the location anymore. It’s all about being elsewhere. No matter where I land, I’ll make my way doing what I can.
My father once got sent to learn how to tile roofs during a school summer vacation while all his friends went and played. He knows that for life, and it has come in useful many times. He is one of very few in the UK that can do one very specific type of welding too.
I intend to learn all I can doing anything I can.
moar ink
another tattoo today, okie dokie?
The biggest decision of my life
I now have the chance to move to new zealand for a minimum of 6 months. It may not be a good job, or even one I would usually take, but it’s not in England, and it’s not Portsmouth.
But it does mean leaving everything behind. I mean EVERYTHING. Oh balls to the walls, this is a doozy
Facebook
It can blow your mind.
It seems to be a source for great irritation, be that through finding out secrets, hearing about worldly matters that interest almost, but not, everyone.
It is also a place of reflection. Looking in to the past from pictures of all those you’ve ever known. You can see one picture and think “I remember them”, “I can’t stand that person” or in my case “Did I sleep with that person”.
Trying to fuck your way free of something works, and I’ll challenge anyone who says otherwise.
But aside from fucking, which this blog consists of heavily, Facebook is a necessary evil that we all willingly endure.
Fuck Social Media.
Love Social Media.
Fuck.
It’s as simple as Fuck.
The one word that can throw sand in your eyes or baby lotion on the tits of your desire. Tonality changes it all and when your head lies in a space of Fuck, you start to realise that this little Fuck might not be so bad.
Sure you can laugh about it, you can cry too, but at the end of the day, it’s all I’ve got, all you’ve got. Fuck, it’s all any of us have.
Pay no mind to my cynicisms, or think for one moment that I’m at all pessimistic. Fuck that my friend.
so Fuck you. Fuck me and Fuck this eternal life of ours.
Whenever I see you, I just want to do this. I can’t be arsed with you!
Writing for Jack Lasant
New song themes: “See you in the snow”, “King of Last Chance” and I’ve only known not knowing”.
Hopefully this new project bring me something better in the realms of live performance and a break away from the type casting I have been getting with gigs.
See you in the snow is a love song about a man wanting his woman to live her dreams, but hopes she can come back in time for their most treasured memories to be re-created.
King of last chance is a positive song about a man who can keep getting the last chance from his woman, though knows one day he’ll push it too far
I’ve only known not knowing is a complex tale of a mans understanding of women, and what he needs to do to keep a relationship afloat.
In 2 weeks, I hope to have these finished and recorded. I then intend on marketing Jack Lasant as a new acoustic performer around the city and get gigs at several places that I have played before, but now, there is the prospect of money.
Who else is excited?
how i should die. a happy post
so bees kill hornets by attacking in swarms, smothering the hornets and now vibrating til it over heats. i want to die like this, but instead of bees, hooters girls. on rollerskates. in mud. or chocolate. yeah, chocolate. smother me in hooters girls on roller skates and cover us in chocolate until i die.
Music Videos
I have been studying various music videos for personal gain recently, and I keep stumbling across videos such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjSgu-30gb0&feature=player_embedded
Now, the video itself if really well made, technically brilliant etc. but I have a problem with music videos like this. I watch them, and become too engrossed in the video to pay attention to its relevance with the song. I always thought a music video was meant to enhance the song visually.
Equally, if the video is just a shot of the band playing the song, with no cut ins of a narrative, is there any point? Just film a live show, I guarantee you’ll get a hell of a lot more emotion from a live show than a group in a studio miming the song 6 times in slightly different clothes.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan, but one of the best videos that works perfectly in developing the songs narrative is Taylor Swifts - You belong with me.
It’s everything a music video should be. It tells the story of the song, but not too obviously. It also doesn’t select each shot to relate word for word. it has ambiguity. Blake Sheltons - The More I drink is the perfect cross over of the “performance” video and “Narrative”. Plus, I love the song. Antony Smith does it well too with “If That Aint Country”.
In argument though, There is a band that have done the performance style video, Hot Apple Pie. It works very well, but I think it acts as more of a performance than anything. Not like Ash - Goldfinger.
Just a ramble on a view of mine. You may think I’m wrong.
Do you agree?
You gotta whoop a man’s ass sometimes.
Zac Brown Band
I seriously think that “You Get What You Give” may be the best album I have heard in so long. It just has songs for everyone, in any mood but still maintains a common ground and has stability throughout.
I don’t know how they done it, but I am sure as hell glad they did.
Y’all going to listen to it?
